“To begin with, I didn’t choose Sofia. Sofia chose me. And it turned out to be the greatest experience I’ve had in university. During my three months in Sofia I spent my mornings at the Public Health Faculty of the Medical University learning that working in a foreign environment is not as easy as I initially thought. The language barrier was my main issue, given that English was not that popular in the University, but overcoming it gave me a feeling of empowerment that I would not have found otherwise. On the bright side, I had the chance to work on different projects and overcome my fear of health management.
During the evenings I would explore the city and try to learn as much as I could about the Bulgarian culture. I had the chance to meet amazing people who taught me a great deal about myself, surprisingly.”
