The launch of the Joint Action on Nutrition and Physical Activity (JANPA), in which Cluj School of Public Health is a partner, will take place on Monday 28 September 2015 afternoon in Luxembourg, under the auspices of the Directorate-general for Health and food safety (DG SANTE) and of the Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency (CHAFEA).

This event is free of charge and open to all stakeholders interested in nutrition and physical activity.Please note however that the number of places is limited and places will be allocated only upon availability.

The Joint Action on Nutrition and Physical Activity aims to contribute to halting the rise in overweight and obesity, especially in children and adolescents. It will do so through the sharing of data and best practices, contributing to:

1) an estimation and forecast of economic cost of childhood overweight and obesity;

2) improvements in the implementation of interventions to promote nutrition and physical activity for pregnant women and for families with young children;

3) foster integrated actions in pre-school and school settings; and

4) increase the use of nutritional information on food and diet by public health authorities, stakeholders and families as well as for nutrition policy purposes and to promote food reformulation.

The Joint Action is co-ordinated by France, gathers public health institutions from 26 countries and is co-funded by the EU Health Programme. It will start on 1 September and last for 27 months.
