Kate LeMasters is an International Fellow in the Social and Behavioral Health Unit at the Cluj School of Public Health this year. Her primary research focuses on the social determinants of pregnancy health among Roma women in Romania. She is collaborating with World Vision and will be conducting interviews with Roma and non-Roma rural women on their pregnancy experiences throughout Cluj county. She will also conduct interviews with stakeholders that work on maternal health issues and that work closely with Roma communities. Kate is funded through the Edwin A. Morris ’26 Distinguished Research Grant through Washington and Lee University, where she graduated in May of 2015. She is currently applying to graduate programs in international maternal and child health and hopes that this study informs future work with communities facing multiple disadvantages.
