We are pleased to announce that our first Global Health Practicum Student for 2016 has arrived at the Cluj School of Public Health! Meet Alyse Carlson, a medical student at the University of Iowa in the United States. During her four weeks in Romania she will visit health practitioners in Cluj-Napoca and nearby villages, and will get familiar with the activities of two local non-governmental organization working with children with disabilities.
Alyse is interested in public health, especially related to children, and will work with the Cluj School of Public Health staff to submit an abstract on exposure to tobacco-related advertising and intentions to smoke in adolescents. After she graduates medical school in June, she will be moving to Washington DC to start a residency in pediatrics.
