Parents’ experience in using Child Safety Restraints in Cluj-Napoca, Romania
The main objective of the project is to identify means of increasing the correct use of child passenger safety products, by a qualitative approach, based on evidence from previous research.
Interviews with parents aim to:
- Identify efficient means to raise awareness and inform parents with regard to the correct use of child passenger safety products, based on previous experiences and perceptions of two different categories of parents.
- Identify specific elements that trigger parents’ choice of not using child passenger safety products, based on previous experiences and perceptions of parents who do not always use those devices.
- Explore and identify efficient strategies of increasing the use child passenger safety products among parents for whom the financial aspect might be an obstacle.
A qualitative strategy of inquiry was built on the Health Belief Model to explore parents’ perceptions, behaviors and decisions regarding the use of child safety restraints in Cluj-Napoca, Romania in both self-identified users and non-users groups in order to contribute to the existing knowledge in the field of child safety and to give a better understanding of the way children passenger safety seats are used in Romania.
