European Injury Database

IDB

This project aims to pilot test the Injury Database (IDB) in Romania. The EU Injury Database (IDB) is considered the core element of a Comprehensive Information System on Accidents and Injuries in the EU. The provision of comparable data for all injury sectors (home and leisure, products and services, traffic, workplace, violence) is expected to facilitate injury monitoring and prevention in the Member States (and at EU level as well). IDB organization follows the principle of subsidiarity: Data collection according to the common IDB standard in the Member States takes place under the responsibility of a National Data Administrator (NDA). The overall objective of the IDB projects is to strengthen the NDA organisation in their role as a promoter of injury surveillance at the national level and to get harmonised injury data for EU level injury reporting in return.

Specific objectives:

  • to obtain around 3000 cases of injuries and accidents
  • to strengthen the NDA organisation in their role as a promoter of injury surveillance at the national level
  • to develop a list of recommendation and an advocacy plan to lobby for national injury surveillance and control
