Ruxandra Simonescu-Colan MD PhD(c) is a medical doctor currently completing her Residency in Public Health and Healthcare Management. She serves as a Research Assistant and Project Coordinator at the Department of Public Health, where she also teaches Health Communication and Epidemiology to BA and MPH students.
She coordinates the Global Health Program, an international mobility initiative that offers short-term internships and research opportunities for students in public health, medicine, and pharmacy. The program focuses on cross-cultural learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and hands-on public health experiences.
Ruxandra is also pursuing a PhD in Medicine at the Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy, with research focused on improving cervical cancer screening uptake in Romania. Her project combines qualitative research, behavioral science, and narrative-based interventions, with a special focus on underserved rural populations.
As a Research Assistant on the European Youth Cancer Network (YARN), an EU-funded project, she contributes to empowering young people affected by cancer through peer support, digital tools, and youth-led policy advocacy.
Building on her extensive experience in coordinating international conferences, hackathons, and health-focused events, she currently serves as EUPHAnxt Conference Manager, leading the organization of the European Public Health Conference on behalf of EUPHA’s student and young professional network.
